Political Parties: an Unnecessary Evil

Why eliminating political parties is a big step towards a brighter tomorrow.

First off… has there been a democracy without political parties?

Yes, the United States of America (1789 – 1797) During his two terms as President, George Washington didn’t approve the foundation of political parties.

Why?

Well, the Father of the USA believed that the creation of political parties would inevitably lead to the birth of party interest.

What’s wrong with party interests?

That in the proccess of decision-making, politicians often overlook the interests of the country, in favor of the interests of their own political party. In other words, what used to be:

“Governnment of the people, by the people, for the people”

is now

“Government of the people, by the people, for the party”.

Priorities of a political party

  1. Winning votes.
  2. Working on re-election.
  3. Defending party interests.
  4. Solving the nation’s problem.

So we, as a people, complain. We look all around us and say “Why the #$% aren’t things being done to clean up this financial mess? Later, when we are tired of complaining, we kick back and turn on the TV.

There, a CNN reporter is evaluating the financial crisis: “Well Tom, it looks like the US debt is on the rise and shows no sign of slowing down.”

Then some “expert” comes on and says “Another month goes by, and no real measures are taken to tackle the economic crisis. Both Democrats and Republicans seem unwilling to compromise and take politically incorrect decisions.” We have all heard the term “politically incorrect”…

What does “politically incorrect” mean?

A “politically incorrect” decision, is a decision that is unfavorable for a political party (results in the loss of votes or support).  What is good for the party can be harmful for the country (and vice versa). Thus, important decisions that should be taken NOW – are delayed undefinetly. Because solving the problems of the nation is priority # 4, not priority #1.

In conclusion

The financial crisis will not be solved, until either:

  1. A political party makes a politically incorrect decision. (fat chance)
  2. We eliminate political parties

We, as a people, must ask ourselves:

What is more important:

Protecting our political party?

or

Protecting our nation’s future?

10 Reasons NOT to vote for Palin

August 29, 2008. The world and America was shocked by presidential candidate John McCain´s choice for running mate: Alaskan governor Sarah Palin. The republican 44-year old hockey mom from Alaska, that could see Russia from her balcony.

February 6, 2011 –  Much has changed. The Democrats are falling, the Republicans are gaining ground and Sarah Palin is a national celebrity. Politics aside, here a ten reasons why nobody should vote for Sarah Palin.

1. She will take down Public Healthcare

Taking down the Public Healthcare System, or ¨Obama Care¨ as she calls it, is one of Sarah Palin´s main priorities. Such action would result in denying millions of Americans access to medical atention. Causing the indirect death of thousands of Americans in order to cut goverment spending, is like having an abortion in order to reduce family spending. A hypocritical stance, coming from a ¨pro-life¨ governor.

2. She is a Gun Nut

An active supporter of the National Rifle Association, Palin’s campaign of restoring the ¨American way of life¨ involves loosening restrictions on gun control laws. Does the USA, with its unfortunately high rate of university shootings, really need gun-happy president? Is she the best role model for our children? But more importantly, is she a good choice for world peace?

3. She is in favor of the Big Oil Companies

With multi-billion dollar industries, super rich CEOs and multiple tax cuts… do the BIG oil companies really need more representation in Washington? With slogans like ¨Drill Baby Drill¨ and her lack of faith concerning “renewable energy sources”, will Sarah Palin be capable of solving the climate problems of the future?

4. She is agaisnt the Arts

Amongst the things Sarah Palin wishes to eliminate is the National Endowment of Arts (NEA), an independent goverment agency that funds and supports thousands of artists nationwide. The tradition of goverments funding artists, that goes back to 15th century Europe, is in the eyes of Palin a ¨fluffery¨. For Palin, funding Art is just a waste of money.

5. She is NOT eco-friendly

Sarah Palin, an Alaskan native, wants to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil development. She wants to grant companies persmission to install pipelines and drilling stations, knowing full well that the survival of several species could be at stake. Sarah Palin´s  ¨Drill Baby Drill¨ campaign in Alaska, is as treacherous as a newyorker saying ¨Build Daddy Build¨ in Central Park.

6. She is not smart

Sarah Palin is a former beauty pageant contestant. In 2008, she thought Africa was a country. She does not believe we should fund research on “renewable energy sources”… enough said. Don´t take my word. Take Matt Damon´s.

7. She is a Dominatrix

Sarah Palin keeps calling her husband ¨Mr.Mom¨ in front of national television. Not cool. Todd Palin, have you no manhood? Do you enjoy been called Mr. Mom by reporters, newspapers and radio programs nationwide?

8. She is horrible at giving answers

She stutters ¨that ah¨ every couple words. She is great at playing with words, but bad at giving answers. Take a look for yourself in the video.

9. She is a protector of the rich

Why should the rich get lower tax rates than rest of us working Americans? Sarah Palin argues that it´s because they are ¨job creators¨. Well in that case, my mom should get a ¨tax cut¨ since she hires a maid. All restaurant owners should get ¨tax cuts¨, since they hire waiters, cooks and cleaners. Equally taxing all Americans is not ¨punishing success¨ Sarah Palin. It´s being fair to the American people.

10. She is the Anti-Obama

For a woman who clearly has no respect for Obama, she is quite a copycat. Obama blamed President Bush. Sarah Palin blames President Obama. Obama is a celebrity. Palin has become a celebrity. Obama wrote two books. Palin just published her second book. Sarah Palin’s whole campaing is based on critizicing whatever Obama has to say. Sarah Palin is awesome at pointing fingers and judging others, but is she not nearly as awesome at giving solutions.

So if you like

  • Protecting human lives
  • Gun control
  • Clean energy
  • Art
  • The environment
  • Smart presidents
  • Being a man
  • Getting answers
  • Equal tax rates for all
  • Solutions

Don’t vote Sarah Palin 2012

Mexico, a Superpower?

This post is a continuation of last’s week’s ¨Review – The Next 100 Years¨, a book written by George Friedman, CEO of the largest private intelligence company in the world. In this post we will discuss how Mexico will one day challenge US power in North America.

2080 – Mexico´s rise to Power

Two eagles collide

Factors to take into consideration:

  1. Mexican inmigrants don´t usually lose their closeness with Mexico.
  2. Being neighbors with the USA is an economic advantage.
  3. Mexicans still feel like the USA stole their northern territory.

By 2070 Mexico´s economy will be in the top 10.

  • It´s currently #14 in GDP (production)
  • The second largest flow of money into Mexico, is the money Hispanic citizens in the US send to their families in Mexico.
  • Much like the millions of dollars produced by illegal alcohol sales in the USA during 1930´s, the billions of $$$ made by the drug cartels in Mexico will one day be ¨cleansed¨ through reinvesment in the country.

By 2070, the Hispanic citizens and inmigrants will constitute over 70% of the total population in former Mexican territories.

Source - US Census Bureau (2006)

Around 2080, tensions between USA and Mexico will escalate:

  1. Hispanic commnity will have a large representation in Congress.
  2. The rest of the US citizens will start feeling threatened by the growth of the Hispanic community.
  3. A Mexican secessionist movement will be born calling for the reintegration of these ¨Latino¨ states back to Mexico.

This minoritary Mexican secessionist movement (within the USA) will fuel the fire of the US conservative base. The American right-wing will label this movement an ¨insurrection¨ and will start calling for the inmediate deportation of all ¨Hispanics¨ back to Mexico.

The American goverment will respond by deporting all Mexicans who are not citizens back across the border. The Mexican seccesionis will then turn to vandalism and start revolting. The US will try to contain the revolt by mobilizing the National Guard and the US army.

The Mexican goverment will also mobilize its army to the border. The American actions will be viewed as racist ¨ethnic cleansing¨ by the Mexican goverment, whose right-wing party will start gaining massive support. While militarily superior, the US will not be facing the Mexican army. Instead it will be inmersed in an inner struggle to keep it´s southern states under control.

Territorial shifts aside, Given that the Hispanic community will be the biggest one in the US by 209o, the question will be:

Washington D.C or Mexico City?

Which city will be the capital of North America by 2100?
